The sweet taste of success

I Liz Moffat have succeeded.

I knew when I set out to bake my first batch of cookies I should have asked a pro for advice.

I really don't have a good reason as to why I didn't ask. I have so many relatives who are very successful bakers.  I originally planned on calling my Aunt Patty (her cookie recipe and cookies are SO good)

But my sister in law Kate posted a comment on my blog with a cookie recipe.
(feel free to try it it's great)
AND

They Taste normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chase ate 16 cookies yesterday... SO! I will not be making cookies anymore for the sake of our health.

cookies 3...Liz....0

So this is shameful... (Aunt Patty I should have called you before attempt #1 it's just every time I decide to "bake" Things get crazy)

ANYWAY! It's painful to post this... I mean the first attempt at cookies was a laugh, but let me tell you after getting pumped again and feeling so confident yesterday and then failing... and then getting pumped again and feeling so confident again just to fail AGAIN I sunk to the floor and, embarrassing I know, I shed a couple tears.

It's kinda funny to think about now, Chase stuffing cookie dough in his face pretending it tasted great.  But lets be real.  I have taste buds too. He even went as far as to rush to the store to buy a gallon of milk to go with the "delicious" cookies.

Personally I think that at best they are bearable. But I guess I am my own worst critic...

Anyways this is a negative post.  Sorry. don't worry I still love life and I am usually not a quitter so I probably will end up trying this tomorrow... that will be four days in a row.

The great people of the world

Today for family home evening Chase and I decided to hike the Y (a giant letter Y on the side of a mountain here in Provo)

I refuse to admit that I may be a little out of shape so I will say that the altitude change we recently went through made us have to catch our breath more than once on the way up...

When we got up there though we got a treat:) not only did we have an awesome view of the valley

We also made it up to the top of the Y at the same exact time as a Roger Lewis.

Who is Roger?  He is just a happy man that was excited to see us up there.  He talked to us instantly (after catching his breath) asked us where we were from like he probably knew someone from there (and he did) made a couple more witty comments just in time for his grandson and son to struggle up the hill.

did I mention this man had a severe limp and carried a cane?
did I mention that he left an hour early so he could meet his kin at the top of the Y?
did I mention that this man looked to be about 70? (being that active I would guess he is older than he looks too)

WHAT A STUD!

I couldn't help it I ease dropped on their conversation.   It was intelligent witty and hilarious.  I loved it.

Cookies 1+ .... Liz 0

TODAY was the day.  I was ready to put my past behind me...

I have a condition. The first apparent sign of it was when I was 12.  My Mom was busy and needed to get dinner started she innocently asked me to go to the kitchen and boil water...

I drug my feet into the kitchen and stared blankly at the fridge
I found my self wondering..
"what possibly could the word boil mean?"

After a very frustrating conversation with my Mom trying to communicate that I had no idea what this boiling water was I realized that
 A. Cooking was not my thing
 B. It seemed to be a big deal to Mama P that I didn't know what boil meant
 C. This was a very serious condition

ANYWAYS this was followed by years of cooking and baking disasters.  MANY people are part of these memories.

but today! today was the day.  I have managed to learn how to cook a few meals. However I have yet to successfully bake anything that didn't come in a box or package.

With some online recipe help I got started...
I even had/still have on my cute apron that I SWEAR helps me cook better AND it felt so great.  I felt like such a good little house wife, baking Sunday cookies that maybe I could take to the neighbors:) (church today was about service)

However the batter didn't look right so I went to Chase
"Chase is everything okay?"
"Yeah babe everything is great"
"No! my cookies does the batter look weird?"

He followed me into the kitchen and started examining the ingredients I used...
to sum things up.  The powdered sugar is in a clear plastic Tupperware...I swear it looks exactly like flour..

SO baking has beat me once again. Whats new? At least my Husband thought it was cute

I will let you know how these suckers taste Ha!

The lights really inspired me

What not to wear

I love the show what not to wear so much (I am 100% girl) however as I sat there wasting my life away watching it I got up to get something and walked past a mirror...

I thought "Oh no Stacy and Clinton are going to show up at my door..."

and then I thought "OH NO when they show up at my door they are going to force me to go on a three day shopping trip!"

....so I went and changed my outfit.

I guess you could say they inspired me ?

Our honeymoon continued

I wish I was feeling clever, BUT I'm not.  So I am just going to talk a little bit about my new improved life style. aka married life!

The Benefits (not in any particular order)

-Mr. Moffat always checks and then double checks to make sure things are safe and nice for me (Things like oil changes and tire replacements no longer have to be on my brain)  In boy language this is him shouting at the top of his lungs that he loves me dearly.

-I get to live with  my best friend.  Living with him makes for some funny times.  One night we stayed up for an extra half hour making raspberry noises on our arms.  (Yes we are both actually little boys)

-I get to learn how to cook...

-No more messy roommates for me (YES!!!!) I got so very lucky and married and ocd cleaner.  And I really mean that as a good thing.

-I got to hit up Kauai and New York (something I would not have had a chance at without  him)

anyways I have been married 1.22 Months and it still feels like the best honeymoon ever.

I got a good one and I mean that
