So this is shameful... (Aunt Patty I should have called you before attempt #1 it's just every time I decide to "bake" Things get crazy)
ANYWAY! It's painful to post this... I mean the first attempt at cookies was a laugh, but let me tell you after getting pumped again and feeling so confident yesterday and then failing... and then getting pumped again and feeling so confident again just to fail AGAIN I sunk to the floor and, embarrassing I know, I shed a couple tears.
It's kinda funny to think about now, Chase stuffing cookie dough in his face pretending it tasted great. But lets be real. I have taste buds too. He even went as far as to rush to the store to buy a gallon of milk to go with the "delicious" cookies.
Personally I think that at best they are bearable. But I guess I am my own worst critic...
Anyways this is a negative post. Sorry. don't worry I still love life and I am usually not a quitter so I probably will end up trying this tomorrow... that will be four days in a row.
you crack me up! i couldn't cook either when i got married. practice, practice, practice. maybe baking isn't your thing... perhaps you'd have more success cooking! here is my no fail recipe: The measurements in ( ) are just half measurements. i only half this recipe because it makes a lot. or you could do the whole recipe and freeze the dough.
ReplyDeleteHere are the secrets I've learned about making cookies. Butter needs to be at room temp! Important! Cream the butter, brown sugar, sugar and peanut butter together. add eggs and slightly beat til mixed in. then when you add dry ingredients mix then until just mixed. Don't over mix. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies
(1) 2 cups brown sugar
(1) 2 cups sugar
(1.5) 3 cubes of butter (room temp! important! if I don't have some I micro for a tiny bit and stir til consistency of room temp.)
(3/4) 1 1/2 cups peanut butter (natural/organic of course!)
(1.5) 3 tsp vanilla
(2) 4 eggs
(2 1/4) 4 1/2 cups flour
(1) 2 tsp salt
(1) 2 tsp baking soda
(1) 2 cups (or so) choc chips
350 for 10 - 12 min (I always just do 10 or sometimes less the more batches you do)
Cream sugars, butter and peanut butter. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix until just combined. Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in choco chips.
I hope these work for you! Keep trying... that's what I love about you.
oh it says I use all natural peanut butter (like adam's) but I'm sure the regular stuff would work too!
ReplyDeleteand we need to have you guys over!!!
